The Art of Pilgrimage.
Landscapes as Medicine, Sacred Sites as Bridges to Transformation, Soulful Remembrance and Deep Reconnection.
Pilgrimage invites us to a different way of traveling; an experiential, intention-filled, reciprocal connection with the land, culture, sites, community and spirit of a place. When we approach the landscape in an open-hearted way, we access the ancient wisdom held within these sacred places from a place of reverence rather than consumption. This leads us to a richer and fuller experience of the archetypal energies held here. When pilgrimaging, you are devotion in action, you are in harmony with the land and elements, you feel a part of nature - knitted into and held by the landscapes, culture and sites, simultaneously receiving and giving.
The art of pilgrimage has both ancient well-tended roots and a modern need/demand via recent research studies which illustrate the benefits pilgrimaging has on not just physical health but mental and emotional health; all of which point to the purity, power and healing available through these pathways.
Who is Brigid?
She is and Always Has Been a True ‘Force of Nature’ & a Woman of the Land. Brigid Illustrates a Rich Herstory, Both as a Mother Saint of Ireland with Druidic Roots & as a Proto-Celtic Goddess.
As a Patroness Saint, who founded and led her own Church around the year 480, she is associated with wondrous miracles and healings in her monastic city of Kildare (Cill Dara translates as “church of the oak”). She is also associated with an ancient lineage of priestesses who tended an eternal flame in her Fire Temple of Kildare which honored her as a Proto-Celtic Goddess; of which she blessed the land, crops and community. The energy of Brigid, is one that weaves, bridges and creates harmony and is associated with the archetypal and elemental medicines of fire + water, healing, protection, poetry, creativity, divine inspiration/prophecy (Imbas Forasnai), blacksmithing, childbirth/the art of birthing something, fertility, domesticated animals/livestock, “bringer of the dawn”/hope, the festival of Imbolc (February 1st), the greening of the earth and life force itself.
More than anything, everyone’s experience, understanding and connection with Brigid, is highly personal in how it is developed. This pilgrimage gives the appropriate space, intention, guidance, resources and pathways for that to be cultivated and activated uniquely and authentically for you. The energy of Brigid has been a deep well of support, healing, nourishment, guidance and an inextinguishable inner flame of heart in these modern times for myself and for many. She is an important, yet ancient, medicine for our times.
